Dear God,

You tell us through Paul in Philipianns 4 to not be anxious about anything and in everything to pray with thanksgiving, and present our requests to You.

Here is my prayer:

At this very moment, my grandpa is undergoing a quadruple bypass heart surgery to fix problems discovered during a heart attack he suffered last week. I pray today for strength. Strength for my family, my grandma, the nurses and doctors performing the operation and especially for my grandpa. I pray that the doctors are able to repair his heart and that when the time comes to take him off the machines I pray that his heart takes over in a way that only You can orchestrate.

I know that aging and death are a natural part of Your plan and I know in my heart that what waits for Your believers in heaven is something greater than anything we can experience in this lifetime. But I still struggle with the pain of seeing someone I love hurting. Please heal our pains and provide us comfort.

I ask that You use this opportunity of togetherness to unite our family so we can share in Your mercy and grace. I pray that those that don’t know You see You working in their lives and the life of grandpa and reach out to You for help. I pray for laughs, smiles and happiness during these difficult times. And Lord God, more than anything else, I pray for my grandpa’s heart.

Amen.

P.S. – As a special prayer for my Grandpa, I pray the Colts win big on Sunday night. The excitement of a close game is always fun but after a successful surgery I think his heart would appreciate an easy win.

In Indianapolis the Colts logo is everywhere. I mean everywhere. Grocery stores, fast food restaurants, schools, even churches. In Indy, we love our blue & white.

I just stumbled across this report from DailyCaller.com that made me think about blue and red.

It ranks my hometown of Noblesville, Indiana as the #5 most conservative county in America. Noblesville is the county seat for Hamilton County and is about 20 miles north of Indianapolis.

Indianapolis has long been one of the most Republican cities north of the Mason-Dixon line, and the main suburban overflow county is a model of conservatism. Hamilton County to the north of Indianapolis is one of the richest counties in America. The cities on the border of the county, such as Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville, are now among the largest cities in Indiana, and they are overwhelmingly Republican. The county prides itself on being family-friendly, putting much effort in building recreational facilities and parks. Forbes called Hamilton County the best place in America to raise a child.

As a random and personal side note, the two best-men in my wedding live this example. Vince Eagan works for the Indianapolis Colts and Andrew Greider is the executive director of the Hamilton County Republican Party.

Yes, that’s right, the same Rosi Golan that played a house concert in my house. I’ve mentioned her on this blog before, but I’m not sure y’all got the message.

She’s been featured in “Brothers & Sisters,” “One Tree Hill,” the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff, that ghost show with Jennifer Love-Hewitt and most recently the uber chick-flick Dear John.

Apparently I’ve been working too many hours and not getting the sleep I need. I had to cancel a meeting this morning with the Hamilton County GOP after a late late night.

I convinced Matt, Lisa and Brandon (team members at the RNC) to go to Scotty’s yesterday so I could use my free birthday coupon. Problem is…I couldn’t get it to print before we left. So we just enjoyed Scotty’s in the traditional fashion (I happily paid for my meal). But my coupon expires today, so here I am again (writing this while enjoying my ice cream sundae) at the Scotty’s in downtown. Love the atmosphere. Love the free wi-fi. Love the food.

I don’t get it. I’ve always thought that Beyoncé was annoying. From her days as one of Destiny’s Children I’ve always thought she was just a mildly talented drama queen that would have an over-hyped and short lived career.

I don’t know if my taste has changed or if she’s done something to win me over…but I have to admit I now love Beyoncé.

I love how she defended Taylor Swift after Kanye’s outburst at the VMAs. I love her husband and his music. I loved her skit on SNL with JT. And I can’t get Halo out of my head (from the Help for Haiti album).

Beyoncé, I’m sorry I doubted you. Thank you for class and for sharing your gift of music.

I am officially in love with Rosi Golan. You probably don’t know her…but trust me…she has the voice of an angel. She’s a singer/songwriter that will change your world.

My fiance, Amanda, introduced me to Rosi about a year ago. I could write a few more paragraphs about why you should rush out and buy Rosi’s debut album, but I think her music speaks for itself. Have a listen.
