Colts vs. Saints – Pulling at my Heartstrings

Those of you that have known me for over a decade know that I’m a huge New Orleans Saints fan. I’m a huge Saints fan that was born and raised in Indianapolis. My family has had Colts season tickets since the team moved here from Baltimore and the best man in my upcoming wedding works for the team. I love the Saints and yet I also love the Colts.

True sports fans will tell you that it’s impossible to have 2 teams in the same sport. Normally, I’d agree, but in the NFL two teams from opposite conferences play each other only once every 4 years. So I’ve argued with countless people that it’s okay to have a team in each conference. 2.5 times a decade I can’t cheer for both, so years ago I simply decided to cheer for the home team. When the Saints play in Indy I cheer for the Colts. When the Colts play in New Orleans I cheer for the Saints.

On February 7th the Colts and Saints will face off in Superbowl XLIV in Miami with no “home team.”

So maybe I’m wrong. Maybe you can’t have 2 teams. At some point you have to decide.

That’s why I’ve decided I’m just gonna bet the over and cheer for Peyton Manning and Drew Brees to throw 7 touchdowns each.

Story about me on HallmarkBlogs.com

Not trying to toot my own horn, but it’s kind of exciting to see a kind word for the volunteered hours put into helping a great cause.

Burdened with Potential

Seth Godin recently posted a short note about settling. He argues that settling is a choice that one makes every single day. I couldn’t agree more.

When I worked for Hansen & Horn Bryan Flanagan from Ziglar Training Systems once told me that I was “burdened with potential.” He commented that I knew I had unlimited potential but that I needed to work within the confines of my life and grow over time. He told me to “grow where I was planted” and be ready when the time came for a bigger pot.

I truly believe that I am special. I have been blessed with many great gifts from above and I thank God every day for the opportunities that He has put in front of me.

But I’m reminded of a quote from Seth’s book where he references Flynn Berry. Flynn tells us to never use the word opportunity. It’s not an opportunity, it’s an obligation.

I have an obligation to change the rules, to raise the bar, to play the game better than anyone has the right to believe is possible.

This is my home for ideas

I’ve been struggling with some inner demons lately and need a place to post my thoughts and ideas.

Life at URBaCS is getting really busy lately but I never stop dreaming about bigger and better. Tough decisions need to be made every day and I need a place to share my thoughts. This blog is that place.
